Our friend Vanessa

Vanessa from Albuquerque came to Chicago for a Midwifery Conference, and we had a chance to spend some time with her before it started. We've been having a great time so far... here are some pics of us on the beach of Lake Michigan and in downtown Chicago. Thanks for staying a couple nights with us, Vanessa!

Ouchy Ouchy!

Today was a horrible day :( I had a little accident and hurt my finger! We were outside and I was trying to climb onto a metal chair all by myself.. and I guess I shifted my weight too much to the wrong side and the chair (and me!) toppled over! I was ok, except for my little finger... it got smashed and bled a lot... I couldn't stop crying and mama, well, I could tell she wanted to cry too, but she didn't. Luckily my doctor's office is only a block away and mama took me there right away. Even papa rushed home from work!To make a long story short, I didn't brake any bones, but I did get a pretty big blood blister and a nasty scrape over top my nail, which makes it hard to tell if I still have it or not!!! Can you believe?! Needless to say, mama and papa spoiled me the rest of the day... after taking some pain medication, I started feeling more myself .. and even wanted to go to the playground! To top it off, mama and papa bought me my very own ice cream cone!!!! Wow! I'm starting to get ideas...hmmm...
Here I am helping clean my wound... I was a trooper I must say.

To Madison and Beyond! McKinneys' visit Part II

So, after Milwaukee we headed back on the road to Madison. It was a comfortable 1 and a half hour trip and we stopped near the capital downtown at a local Starbucks to figure where to go from there. Of course, you must be thinking... "I bet it was Sofia's mama's idea to stop at the STARBUCKS"... but hold on to yer seats there folks.. it WASN'T. It actually was mama Julie's idea :-D But boy was mama happy when she mentioned it.. hehehe! Anyway, here we are enjoying our drinks and relaxing from a long car ride.

I started to get a bit antsy (maybe from the chocolate milk), so mama Julie took me outside on a fun adventure...
... and then I got a nice piggy back ride from mama on our way back to the car...

... and here we are finally at our friends' house enjoying their beautiful country backyard view!
I spotted a cute little doggie at their neighbor's house and decided to introduce myself.
She was so cute!!! Her name was Cupcake... and quite appropriate I might add, I could've eaten her all up!!

But then it was time to go back inside... we enjoyed great food with fabulous conversations! The next morning we came back to visit again before the McKinneys had to leave and this time we brought along our friend Justin. It was fun hearing him and the lady of the house (I forgot her name!) speak back and forth in Chinese. Uncle Justin said he would teach me Chinese when I got older.... coooooooooooool!
This lady was soooooo nice to me!!! I couldn't believe it!! She kept offering me cookies and candy and CHIPS and popsicles...mmmmmmm.... I was wide-eyed with excitement! And every time she offered me something yummy, I would glance at mama first to see her reaction before digging in... but every time, I was given the green flag :) She said since we were on a trip, we could make some exceptions ...wow! We need to go on trips more often! I was so thankful to this lady, that even without asking me, I went to her and gave her a huge hug of gratitude... finally someone speaks my language... "Sweet-tooth-'cause-I'm-2-years-old-so-give-me-sugar!" language.

Our time was coming to an end and soon we had to say goodbye to this lovely couple...
... We also got a chance to go to Uncle Justin's dad's stained glass shop for a little while... that was fun! Unfortunately the McKinneys had to continue on their journey around the U.S. so we drove them to the train station to see them off.
It was a bitter sweet moment... BYE BYE Mama Julie and Bumpa!!! It was so lovely to spend time with you and have you at our place! Come again soon! MUAH!
