A black squirrel in our 'hood

On one of our walks to the park we came across a rare kind of squirrel. It's colored all black! So beautiful that mama had to take some pictures of it. Most of the squirrels around here are quite aggressive so we were careful not to get too close...He tried running away as we got closer....
.... and when he was clear of danger, he decided to give us the evil eye to back us up. Or maybe he was just as curious of us as we were of him! Ain't he a cutie!

Mama recently got her dream ..... a Canon Rebel XT!! And boy is she happy! Here are a few pictures she took with it. I must say, I do like the black-and-white photos the best :)

Car crashes into Panera Bread across the street!

We heard the sirens as mama and I were walking outside and noticed firetrucks and ambulances near the Panera Bread across the street from us. We went a little closer and this is what we saw!!!!





Luckily no one was seriously injured. Apparently an old lady was trying to park into the handicapped spot in front of the restaurant but pressed hard on the gas instead of the brakes! And it happened right at noon, peak lunch time. Crazy, crazy.

Cicadas

I don't like 'em but mama sure does! A few weeks ago they came up from the ground and they were EVERYWHERE!!! I could hardly walk on the sidewalks... (I'd make mama carry me so I wouldn't step on them). I don't see the fascination in these bugs... but, well... my mom's "unique" ;)
